On January 3, 1998 while birding with Bill Kulp in the Liberty Watershed on Pine Knob Road, Carroll County we observed a flock of about 18 White-winged Crossbills which flew into some White Pines beside the road and actively fed for about 10 minutes. They were joined by a flock of about 15 Pine Siskins. They seemed to be flushed by passing traffic and flew into a bare deciduous tree for several minutes before traffic again seemed to flush the birds and they flew off. Red-breasted Nuthatches were common there. This was about 0830-0900. Bob Ringler
