Wow! Thanks for all of your responses. I had a mailbox full this morning. Many of you suggested lots of good ideas and tips. I rescanned the images this morning and cropped them a little closer. Now each picture is around 35k and should download quite a bit faster. http://www.ship.edu/~deheni/phoebepics.html was 4 to 7 minutes. One person said it took 45 minutes. I can only assume that there was a glitch in the net somewhere for that person. Several of you suggested that I was getting the files loaded quickly because I was loading from my cache. Not so - I am directly connected to the web server via ethernet and the server is probably only 30 feet from my desk (of course who knows where the ethernet lines go to get there). When I clicked on reload in netscape it only took a few seconds to load the old page. Other folks with ethernet connections also reported only a few seconds load time. Now with the smaller files the page loads instantly for me. With a 14.4 baud modem it may still take up to a minute to load. Thanks for all of your responses and suggestions.
