Peter Robins asks: > I've not seen much comment about Conowingo gulls since the flood > gates were opened about three weeks ago. Have any significant > numbers of gulls returned? Any of the more unusual ones? I spoke this past Sunday to Gary Griffith. He said that about 300 gulls were frequenting the base of the dam (a SIGNIFICANT reduction from pre-flood gate periods) but that the Common Gull had been seen there this past Saturday. Fran and I stopped at the dam Sunday afternoon and noted that virtually all of the Ring-billed Gulls feeding there were adults. We saw no Lesser Black-backed Gulls on the wall. Keep in mind that the report of the Common Gull from Saturday is third hand. If you go to the dam and actually see any out of the ordinary gulls, please letus know here!
