Common Gull

Hi.
There have been several references to a Common Gull at Conowingo. I can find
no gull by that name in my guides. Have I missed a name change, or is that a
shorthand way of referring to another gull, perhaps the Common Blackheaded
Gull? I know I'm showing my ignorance here.
Also, is one time better than another to view the gulls at Conowingo based on
lighting conditions? Are more gulls present at one time of day than another?
As you can tell, I've not birded there.
