Today was an interesting bird day. First, about a dozen Purple Finches turned up at my feeder, just a month early from when they usually show. This afternoon I discovered a flock of at least 30 American Robins about a half mile away. I have been seeing single birds in this location all "winter". Never more than two at a time. I can't imagine what these birds are eating, because about the only berries left are low quality holly berries. And none of the birds was on the ground "worming". Bob Mumford Darnestown, MD
