Dear Friends, Having been out of town all this past week, it perhaps should not have come as any great surprise to me that my e-mail box was full upon arrival, with much of the correspondence related to the Conowingo gull. I feel obligated to add my comments: 1) I appreciate Norm's invitation to put some of the photos on the MOS web- site; Rick Blom and I have discussed doing a comparable thing for the past couple weeks. Time limitations have prevented me from getting any prints made of my photos (plus the closure of my normal custom photo shop). I will pursue this and we will get some photos out there (Norm-I'll be in touch). 2) Absent the photos, it is difficult to assess much of the commentary related to this bird (another dose of which will soon follow); I can only ask patience in this regard. 3) Using the photos, personnel observations and reference material, I wrote up a personal analysis of the bird, based solely on my own of opinion, that has been referred to in several postings. It is quite lengthy, but I believe Ospreyers will find it of interest. Apparently MAC users can not download the file, so I am sending it as a two-part e-mail "Diagnosis of Conowingo Gull (Part 1) and (Part 2)". 4) I think the dialogue on this is great and hopefully educational for all. Sincerely, Mark L.Hoffman Sykesville, MD Mhoff36100@aol.com
