Three of us spent two hours at the boy scout camp in Harford County
this morning, settling for 18 Red Crossbills. Afterwards we spent an hour
at Conowingo Dam. Gull numbers are still very low, but we saw one adult
Lesser Black-backed. The highlight was not one, but 2 Peregrine Falcons,
both sitting on the superstructure above the dam and both imms. They put on
a great five-minute aerial combat right in front of the dam for us.

"Everywhere I go I'm asked if the university stifles writers. My opinion is
that they don't stifle enough of them. There's many a bestseller that could
have been prevented by a good teacher." Flannery O'Connor
