MDO: While compiling his list of birding listservs, Rick Blom noted to me that there might be some folks on MDO who would be interested in subscribing to our list. MD-SMAS-GENERAL is a small listserv list covering Calvert, Charles, St. Mary's and a small part of southern Prince Georges counties. There isn't a whole lot of dialog going on but the discussions cover environmental issues affecting the SMAS area or items of national attention as well as good birds that are showing up in the area. The board of directors of SMAS decided not to restrict subscribership to members of SMAS but you're more than welcome to join! Check out our website, too. http://www.audubon.org/chapter/md/smas/ Southern MD is one of the most underbirded areas of the state but we've had some real gems show up here in the last few years: Barrow's Goldeneye in St. Mary's (1st live state record), Tufted Duck in Calvert (2nd state record), and Fork-tailed Flycatcher in St. Mary's (2nd state record). The more people that get out and bird our area, the more rare birds that will likely be found. So, if anyone has an interest in subscribing, send a message to: LISTSERV@LIST.AUDUBON.ORG with the message: subscribe MD-SMAS-GENERAL Your Name -- Good Birding!
