Northern Gannets over the Bay

Yesterday (Sunday) afternoon Marion Mudd and I birded Talbot County sections
of the eastern Chesapeake Bay by visiting a number of access points from
Claiborne, south to Black Walnut Point. Although, perhaps because of the
very choppy waters, we did not find any Red-throated Loons (one of our
objectives), we did have a good flight of Northern Gannets at Black Walnut
Point. At least eight came by - out over the Bay - during the half-hour,
or so, we watched, heading south, riding the strong north wind in majestic
sweeping up-and-down arcs.

Because we did not see gannets elsewhere, we wonder if this was a localized
group, or were gannets seen at, for example, St. George Island or Pt.
Lookout to the south, or by Jim Stasz or others at North Beach in Calvert
County?
