Jack and all--
  I totally worded my earlier message (for which I apologize,
having meant it as a private post to Tyler) and gave the
wrong impression that Patty and I had been talking about
the grebe that you had reported at Point Lookout. I, and
she, have no doubt about yours; rather, she had subsequently
heard from some other people that they had seen 4-5 eared
grebes at PL, and that large number is what she was having trouble
believing. Forgive the sloppy wording on my part, and the

Jane:
The Horned Grebes are changing their plummage a bit.  So,
individuals may be different in appearence.  The Eared Grebe that we
saw yesterday with the Horned Grebes was rather convincing in
appearence.  They are very adept at moving away from the viewer,
making it difficult to make a photograph on an overcast day to
record field mark details.
