Robin, A few spots I'd recommend from personal experience: The T.S. Roberts Sanctuary on the north side of Lake Harriet during spring migration. The Warbler fallouts there are the best in the area. Flying Cloud Airport - just south west of exit 11 from the beltway. I had to take a flight from there and spent just an hour but it was useful. I found Clay-colored Sparrows and an Upland Sandpiper. During visits to St. John's University in St. Cloud I found the Collegeville Game Refuge to be very birdy. I found Bohemian Waxwings and a Townsend's Solitaire north of St. Cloud along the Mississippi River County Park. Good luck.
