Marcia, Ellen, Meta and myself had our first Kingbird of the season @ Allee House ,Bombay Hook on the 18th. We had a great day traipsing along route 9. We picked up 9 off 299 at Odessa and worked south. There were beaucoup Savannah Sparrows @ Mallard Inn making buzzy sounds, but not quite singing. Also in the field across the road, Black-Bellied Plovers and one Lesser Golden. After talking to others on the road, we found we were not the only ones to call baby Killdeers Semi-Palm Plovers. Actually, Ellen brought our attention to this! The tower @ Little Creek gave us great looks @ Avocets, Dowitcher and a huge flock of shorebirds that put on quite a show making shape shifting forms in the sky as they wheeled and turned. Also eye level looks @ Palm & Yellow-rump Warblers. After a great dinner of Indian food @ ElSombrero in Dover ( highly reccomended ) , we came up with Sora, Virginia Rail, BC Nightheron, Snipe and Woodcock @ the marsh below Reedy Point Bridge. I`m already looking forward to my next expedition. Leslie Fisher - fish8553@dpnet.net
