One thing Maryland birders should perhaps watch for is Red Crossbill breeding this spring/summer in the state. Sometimes after major invasions some birds stay on to breed. My husband Barry recalls after a major Red CB invasion into southern England in the 1960s, he found them breeding in Richmond Park and other sites in and around greater London. It might be worth flogging the Liberty Reservoir pinewoods as well as other places where they appeared in good numbers this past winter, including of course Cecil County!
