     Hi gang,

Just thought I would mention that the web is a great resource for
information about parks and wildlife refuges.
"Http://www.assateague.com/bird-alp.htm" has a bird list like you get
from the park office for Chincoteague Wildlife refuge plus a map
showing Assateague and Chincoteague. This weekend I was at Violette's
Lock (C&O Canal) and saw about 10 Bonaparte's Gulls that appeared to
be feeding while circling low over and landing in the rapids (Potomac
River). What I found interesting was that they distinctly preferred
the rapids rather than the adjacent calm water. Happy birding, Dan
     Eberly
