Brief trip to Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum this morning from 7:00am to 7:45am. Cool. Overcast. Tough lighting. Birds were relatively quiet. Several groups of warblers only giving chip notes. Total species count was 46 (9 warbler species). Strangely missing was Hooded Warbler, a JPPM regular. Birds with a * are new for me for Maryland this year. Yellow Warbler is #501 for ABA area for me this year! * Cattle Egret Killdeer Laughing Gull Mourning Dove Red-bellied Woodpecker Downy Woodpecker Hairy Woodpecker Eastern Phoebe Red-eyed Vireo American Crow Fish Crow Barn Swallow Carolina Wren House Wren Blue-gray Gnatcatcher Eastern Bluebird * Veery Wood Thrush American Robin European Starling Gray Catbird Northern Mockingbird Northern Parula * Yellow Warbler Yellow-rumped Warbler Yellow-throated Warbler Pine Warbler Ovenbird Louisiana Waterthrush Kentucky Warbler Common Yellowthroat Summer Tanager Eastern Towhee Chipping Sparrow Field Sparrow Song Sparrow White-throated Sparrow Northern Cardinal Indigo Bunting Red-winged Blackbird Eastern Meadowlark Common Grackle Brown-headed Cowbird House Finch American Goldfinch House Sparrow Greg Miller Lusby, MD (Calvert County)
