Howdy all!

I was out birding my home stomping grounds with California
birder Tom Grey yesterday. We had a total of 113 species, including 21
species of warblers. 7 species were new lifers for Tom, as well as 48
new year birds. His birding week here in the mid-Atlantic is off to a
good start :-)

A majority of the species we had for the day were from 6-9am at
Calvert Cliffs St Pk (CCSP). All the warbler species (except for Yellow
which we got at Pt Lookout and Prairie which we heard near the
intersection of Rt 2-4 and Parran Rd and Yellow-breasted Chat at
Jefferson Patterson Pk and Museum (JPPM)) were seen at CCSP. And SEEN
is correct. We were lucky yesterday to see 18 species of warblers (only
Blue-winged and Prairie and Yellow-breasted Chat were heard only).

Additionally, it was a real pleasure to have a few of our
Eastern, flashy birds show off. We had stunning looks at Scarlet and
Summer Tanagers, and Baltimore Oriole at CCSP. There was a plethora of
electric-blue Indigo Buntings at JPPM, too. Other goodies included a
calling Bobwhite at Cornfield Harbor near Pt Lookout, a Wild Turkey near
JPPM, and a calling Chuck-wills Widow at dusk at Pt Lookout to top the
day off <grin>.

Off to Alaska today! Everyone have a great Spring!
