Tim: I was at Swallow Falls on Monday and had Blackburnian and Magnolia Warblers, Golden-crowned Kinglets and Red-breasted Nuthatches. At nearby Herrington Manor State Park I saw Pine Siskins, Golden-crowned Kinglets and several species of warblers. Along Cranesville Road just west of Swallow Falls, Canada Warblers, Hooded Warblers, Northern Waterthrushes and Veeries, among others, were singing in the mountain laurel and rhododendron thickets along the road. Also, try the road south of Herrington Manor on the way to the town of Oakland (I forget the road's name). You will come to a large farm with white rail fences along the road. There were many singing bobolinks in the fields and singing Savannah Sparrows as well. Mondaay was my first trip to Garrett County, and from what I saw, there is an abundance of good habitat. It is possible to see lots of bird just by driving the roads and listening for there songs with your windows rolled down.
