Hi,

Saturday (May 16) was sort of slow, around the Visitors Center at Rock
Creek Park, Washington, DC. There were several species of warblers singing
and seen. SWAINSON'S THRUSH and a nice male ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK were
among these birds.

Other birds included:
RED-BREASTED MERGANSER-8 flying over, heading north. The birds appeared to
be females and immature males. They weren't that high above the tree tops.
RED CROSSBILL-6, flying at tree top level at the open area around picnic
area number 14. I happened to be looking in the right direction as these
birds flew northeasterly, calling.

Sunday, May 17, was slower still for warblers. I heard a CANADA WARBLER
sing three times as I got out of the car, but as soon as I pished, it fell
silent.

Other birds included:
COMMON or FORSTER'S TERN-6 flying over, heading north. They too were not
that far above the trees.
SOLITARY SANDPIPER-3, following the terns about a minute later.
