Fran, et al. - Not exactly ... there will be trips to Attu in both 1999 and 2000. A snip from the Attours web site follows: We have recently learned that the last day of operation for the LORAN C system will be December 31, 2000, so our final trip will be in the year 2000. Thus our complete future schedule is for two 2-week trips, two 3-week trips, and two special trips in the year 2000: a brief 1-week trip and a fall trip. There is some unofficial talk within the US Coast Guard that the Loran Stations may not actually close in December 2000 ... we shall see ...
