Hi Janelle:

First, congrats on your hummer. I had one (a female) investigating red leaves
on my Photinia on Friday, so I hurried out with a feeder, but I guess she
had left (the leaves being pretty unproductive!). Still waiting for some
customers!

The Dicksissels (I have seen/heard up to eight in some years in this area)
stay to breed (or attempt to breed, depending on whether they bring off a
brood before the field is mowed.) So June is a good time to look for them. Whil
e in the area, check for Vesper, Savannah and Grasshopper Sparrows, some
years there are Upland SPs as well. Lilypons itself hosts breeding Willow
Flycatchers and also Least Bitterns.
