the Loon and Lilypons

Today I successfully birded the Lilypons area, primarily for the
Dickcissel, and the Washington Channel for the Loon. A Dickcissel pair
were on the fence on both sides of the road where the road crests along
the fence. They gave me good opportunities to put the scope on them.
This was about 9:00. I tried the Lilypons Nursery for Bittern but was
unsuccessful.

At about 1:30 the Pacific Loon was in the area of Ft. McNair in the
Channel about 100 yards south of the smokestack, but near the Fort
seawall. I had good looks with the scope, but the bird was resting and
the head was tucked.

Thanks to those who supplied the information about these birds, both life
birds for me.
