Got great looks at the Pacific Loon this morning as it paraded a group
of fast walking birders north along the Potomac River to the 14th Street
Bridge starting at around 10:30 AM. Again, the loon was feeding in close to the wall and sometimes you needed to use your binoculars at their "close focus" limits.

Predicting were the loon would pop up and give us a two to three second look was the hard part. When the loon finally reached the 14th street bridge it surfaced and started to swim south in the middle of the Potomac which allowed for extended views through a scope. Finally it moved over to the Virgina side and started diving next to the distant shore. This was around 12:00 noon.

As the birder parade was in full swing, I heard someone say, "Why, this is Loonacy !". Good luck if you're trying to find the loon on Sunday. I'd say chances are good.

Good Birding,
