Dear Harry,

Enjoyed your post on nests and fledglings.  How do could you tell it was a
female downy fledgling that was being fed as opposed to a male?  

I have only found house wrens and Carolina wrens and a robin nesting on our
plot.  Probably house finches up in a tall prickly spruce, as in previous
years, but I have never actually seen the nest, just the activity.
