Arlene, I have returned from the ABA conference in Winnipeg. Jane Kostenko and Tyler Bell were also there. We did have Sprague's Pipit near Douglas. The leaders from Manitoba were excellent, but no one was able to locate a Baird's Sparrow. When we did the boreal forest trip near Milner Ridge, we saw a lovely singing male Connecticut Warbler. However, the warblers nesting in Manitoba are extremely difficult to find, even for the locals. We heard many Conn Warblers, but it took a lot of tape playing and then searching to find the bird. The other bus did not see a Conn Warbler. Oak Hammock Marsh is a really nice place not too far from Winnipeg. The marsh area is very large and has many interesting nesters. There is a large center with many many interesting displays. Also they have a restaurant; you could spend the whole day without returning to any town. I have a checklist, but it could not easily be copied. Tell me if you are looking for any particular species, and I will check the list. The only phone number I have is the gift shop at 204-467-3000 in Manitoba. e-mail your questions to me. Charlotte Friend Friend55@aol.com
