Speaking of bird clocks -- the advert section of last Sunday's Post had an ad for a bird clock with a "difference" -- the species are all Japanese! Confound your friends! Prepare for that next Attu bird trip! Included were such goodies (and some of these ARE "goodies" -- much sought on our recent China trip) as Narcissus Flycatcher, Brown Thrush, Blue and White Flycatcher, Red-flanked Bluetail, Japanese Grosbeak and Japanese Whiteeye. I assume that this clock is an import from Japan, where (apparently) the bird clock phenomenon is also running rampant. The cost -- a mere $19.95. I expect it also keeps time.
