We really intended to spend the day birding Cecil Co, but @ 10:30 we
were in the southern county , half-way to Bombay Hook, disappointed by
the ho-hum birding & thinking of early migrating shorebirds.

Marcia & I began our morning @ Courthouse Point, the best bird there
being BANK SWALLOW ( 1 ) and the usual YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT, & not a
whole lot of anything else. Next stop, what is known to local birders as
Gunthers Pond, just west of Cecilton on 282. Here, we did score an
unusual bird, a CANVASBACK in " female like plummage" possible
juvenile. We had no doubt of the ID, Marcia called me upon returning
home & consulting her duck book for the various plummages. Also here,
MEADOWLARK ( 5 ), HORNED LARK( 12 ).

At Bombay Hook, we were both delighted to find a RUFF in black & white
plummage on Shearness. WILSONS PHALAROPE ( 5 ) were very co-perative @
Raymonds Pool. Also present were AVOCETS ( 50+ ) still attired in
their breeding colors & likewise SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS. These are
highlights only, my eyes are glazing over so I`m not listing every bird
seen. Maybe Marcia will have some further commentary in the morning??
`Til next time
