An Olive-sided Flycatcher was perched on the top of a tall, dead snag on the north side of the canal approx. 2/3 of a mile west of the lock at Pennyfield, C & O Canal, at 8am Wed. morning, 8/12. I watched it for five minutes, flycatching and returning to the same snag. The breast-side and flank streaking were clearly visible. When the bird preened, a white patch on the sided of of the rump was also prominently displayed. Mary Ann Todd
