MDO:

Jane Kostenko and I did some birding in Frederick County, MD yesterday
(8/13/98). Highlights were Ospreys fishing in the Monocacy on the south
side of the bridge on Lily Pons Rd as well as a whole bunch of Northern
Rough-winged Swallows on the wires over the river. There was an adult
Yellow-crowned Night-heron in one of the ponds at Lily Pons as well as
numerous Great-blue Herons and Great Egrets. One of the dry ponds had a
pair of Solitary Sandpipers.

We checked the fields on Oland and Lily Pons Rds. in search of upland
sandpipers without success. No sign of the dickcissels either.

In Montgomery County, at Pennyfield Lock, we did not relocate the
olive-sided flycatcher that was seen on 8/12.
