Subject: Subscribing Hurricane Net

You are invited to sign up for HURRICANE NETWORK. This is
a major Eastern United States Network dedicated to covering
birds driven by hurricanes that may make landfall in the
Southeastern and Southern states.

The network began operation 3 October 1995 with the coverage
of Hurricane Opal.

Please be aware that if you are subscribed to Valley Birds Net
you are already subscribe to HURRICANE NET. I own both nets.

There are no commands to subscribe the net. You simply
e-mail me a message asking to subscribe. You must give
me your name and not an e-mail "handle" or similar code name.
I must also have the name of the city, town or nearest
community where you live as well as the state.

This is a fully-modereated network and there is no listserver
and only authorized message are carried on the net. There is
a delay from the time a message is sent to me for the net and
when it is edited and retransmitted.

The net is also used for organizing coverage of storm-driven
birds.

We have a great history of real-time reporting of storm
driven birds from within the eyes of storms by Hurricane
Net. We've been written up in Birding and Field Notes
for this network's major contributions to the coverage
of storm driven birds.
