They were on the mud flats around the smaller pond south of the large pond. They were with one Least sandpiper and a Solitary sandpiper and a female Northern shovler. Several photos at close range were secured by myself and Stauffer Miller. It is obvious from the postings here that very few birders know of the western pond. This ponds is accessed from the Harney road by turning north at the "Mason Dixon" sign and then turning right onto the DUSTY farm lane. This lane goes directly to the farm complex and visitors should be careful to park completely OFF the road. The pond is raised above the road level and is on the left hand side of the lane. The best viewing is from the edge closest to the lane. Please remember to park completely off the lane. There are numerous Pectoral sandpipers, Least, and Semipalmated sandpipers, Lesser yellowlegs, Semipalmated plovers and Killdeer. A juvenile Short-billed dowitcher was a real treat this morning.</color><color><param>0000,0000,FF00</param>Wilbur Hershberger <underline>WHershbe@afrs.ars.usda.gov</underline></color><FotFamily><param>Times New Romparam><smaller> <nofill> =============== Norm Saunders Colesville, MD osprey@ari.net
