Nancy and I went to Point Lookout this morning and saw the immature Wood Stork at the pond. While we were there three Mute Swans came flying over the pond toward the bay. The first two past just over the power lines; the third fly right into them, and fell heavily to the ground where it lay in the soft tall grass. It lay without moving, and seemed to be dead. After about 20 minutes though, it raised its head; and after another 10 minutes began to waddle off unsteadily. When we left the pond, at about 11:30, the Wood Stork was still there. Also at the pond were several immature Little Blue Heron, a Mallard, a Lesser Yellowlegs, two Short-billed Dowitchers, and Forster's and Royal Terns. On the way home, we stopped at the marsh at the north end of North Beach. There were about a dozen Snowy Egrets, a Black-crowned Night-Heron, Semipalmated Plover, Killdeer, Semipalmated, Least, and Western Sandpipers, a Black-necked Stilt, and a Red Knot.
