Greetings all,

On Saturday, 29 Aug 98, from 1330 until about 1500, myself, Kurt Gaskill and
Mike Day, birded the mudflats and the beach in North Beach, at the
Calvert/Anne Arundel county line.

Conditions: Hot. About 90-92. Very little breeze. Clear sky. Did I mention
hot?

Report: The beach side of Rte 261 had about 50 or so small peep. Western,
Least, and Semi were all present. Western were the most numerous. The
mudfalt on the west of Rte 261 also had smaller numbers of the above
mentioned, as well as 30 Killdeer, 1 Black-necked Stilt, 1 Lesser Yellowlegs,
2 Willets, 1 winter plumaged Red Knot, and 1 White Rump.

Also in the area were a few Red-winged Blackbirds, 1 Red-tailed Hawk, a pair
of Osprey, 20 or so Forster's Terns, 12 Snowy Egret. 3 gull sp. (no herring).
Notably absent were the Dowitchers, and Pecs that I had there last week.

Cheers,

Todd Day,
Jeffersonton, VA
