Jane and I chased the wood stork and the lark sparrow today at Point
Lookout. The stork was easy and obvious -- we saw it as we drove past the
pond, without using binoculars (although we did it the courtesy of
returning with a scope to admire it at leisure). The sparrow wasn't as
easy, although it had been reported that morning only a few minutes before
we arrived. After some searching in the heat and humidity, we gave up
temporarily and adjourned to a fast-food joint for sustenance (especially
something cold!). On our return, more searching turned it up within the
fenced-off area at the south tip.

We thank all those who have kept us updated with the status of the two
birds, as we missed the stork in our brief visit to the Salton Sea in
southern California (and of course missed the earlier MD storks).
