At about 0930 today, 1 Sept 98 at low tide the following were noted at the
mudflats of Hunting Creek, just south of Alexandria and the beltway off the GW
Parkway.

The usual 4 gulls, Dbl-crested Cormorants, Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets,
Canadian-American Geese, Mallards, a Wood Duck and...

Killdeer - 28
Greater Yellowlegs - 8
Lesser Yellowlegs - 10
Semipalmated Sandpiper - 6
Western Sandpiper - 2
Least Sandpiper - 24
Pectoral Sandpiper - 15
Short-billed Dowitcher - 1
Caspian Tern - 42
Forster's Tern - 136

A quick scan a Jones Point did not turn up anything unusual, though at least
20 (prob.) Greater Yellowlegs worked the hydrilla mats.
