Virginia and Maryland Networks,

Here is an announcement from the American Birding Association:

                                Larry Lynch, Chesterfield Co., VA
***********************************************************************************

Birders:

Due to a computer glitch, ABA has not been able to post the
following
announcement on its website and will not be able to do so for another day
or more. However, since ABA's board and staff have been advised, we are
requesting the good offices of various chat lines to start informing our
members and the community at large.

Greg Butcher, our Executive Director for the past six years, is
leaving
ABA to become Editor of *Birders World*. Greg will take the editorial
reins
of this highly successful and well-regarded magazine upon the retirement
of
founder Eldon Greij in about a month. After a lengthy search for a worthy
successor, Kalmbach Publishing Co., the Wisconsin magazine conglomerate
that owns *Birders World*, settled on Greg as just the right man for the
task. They made him an offer he could not refuse and ABA could not match.

Greg leaves with our strong, continuing friendship and heartfelt
thanks
for a superb job of steering ABA through the choppy seas of rapid growth
and broad evolution. We mourn our loss, while wishing him the absolute
best
of everything. We are working hard to find the proper replacement.

	Allan Keith, President
