It was a slow day at Rock Creek (five warbler spp., all but Redstart single- tons) so we headed over to Quen Anne Co. and the turf farm on John Brown Rd. to try and change our luck. They had been irrigating and there were lots of birds: Killdeer (estimate 100) American Golden Plover (8) Buff-breasted Sandpiper (1) Pectoral Sandpiper (4) Least Sandpiper (7) MARBLED GODWIT (1) We also had a bird in distant flight only which looked like a Reeve, but we could not locate it on the ground (there are a lot of swales and ditches). I imagine Marbled Godwit is a nice country record, for you county listers. We then went over to the Ridgeley Sewage Works to look for Bairds but no joy here -- only Killdeer and a few Least SPs. Maybe that cold front will come through *tomorrow*! Cheers, Gail Mackiernan gail@umdd.umd.edu
