The front was still passing through this morning, with a burst of early activity at the "ridge" and then slowing down considerably as the wind got up. Nevertheless we tallied some good birds: Nighthawk (2); Black-and-White (4), Black-throated Blue (2), Black-throated Green (2), Blackburnian (1), Bay-breasted (4), Blue-winged (2), Canada (2), Chestnut-sided (5), Magnolia (5), Nashville (2), Redstart (8), Wormeating (1), Ovenbird (2), Common Yellowthroat (4); Yellow-billed Cuckoo (1); Veery (3); Rosebreasted Grosbeak (1); Baltimore Oriole (2); Red-eyed Vireo (15-20); Eastern Wood-pewee (5), Empidonax sp. (1) There was no sign of the Clay-colored Sparrow in the Maintenance Yard, which was noisy with workmen and trucks. The R-T Hummers seem to have moved out with the front. A few minutes ago (1 pm) -- a small kettle of Broadwings passed over our house in Colesville, MD. Gail Mackiernan and Barry Cooper gail@umdd.umd.edu
