Todd, Howard and I had excellent and extended views of the Sedge Wren from close range. It had very dark markings on the back and some buffiness underneath. The eyebrow was prominent but much shorter than a Carolina's. The bill was relatively short. Based on these field marks, it was easy enough to positively identify the bird as a Sedge Wren. In fact, Howard identified it the instant he spotted it. Its call was also different from the calls of the numerous House and Carolina Wrens in the area.
