If you have time check out Long Neck Road. I had a juvenile skimmer, Caspian Tern, imm. Common
Tern, four short-billed Dowitchers, Semi Plover, spotted Sand and least. I had a Sanderling at the beach
at the point also. Go to the end of long neck road and walk around the soy beans.

Norm,
Doug and I just took this trip two weekends ago. The boat leaves from
marina at Pt. Lookout SP. It is the second right after you pass the
entrance where you pay to enter the park. They do not charge you the day
rate if you tell them that you are taking the cruise. The charge is
$20/person and $5 more per person if you are taking bikes (we did). The
boat leaves at 10 AM so you would want to get there around 9:30. It takes
about 1.5 hours to get there and leaves the island at 2 (we could have used
about three more hours). The restaurant serves a buffet which is decent but
you may not want to waste time eating. The museum is new and very
worthwhile -- we only discovered it at 1:35 and had to rush through not
being able to see all that was on display.

The Captain of the boat (at least, that's what I think he was), is Marty
Cribb and is very knowledgeable about the birds of the area. He runs a
banding station at Ft. Lincoln on Monday and Tuesday mornings (I hope to
join him one day soon).

It was a great trip, no pelagic species to speak of the day we took the
ride, but a very pleasant experience overall.
