Things were quite a bit slower at Rock Creek Park, DC, today -- nevertheless persistence paid off with 15 species of warbler. It was obvious that there had been a substantial exodus, however, we heard/saw NO flycatchers save one heard Great Crested, and there were fewer House Wrens and Yellowthroats. Birds seen: Warblers: Black-and-White (6), Black-throated Blue (10), Black- throated Green (3), Baybreasted (1), Bluewinged (1), Canada (1), Cape May (1), Chestnut-sided (4), Magnolia (6), Nashville (1), Parula (2), Wormeating (2), Ovenbird (1), Common Yellowthroat (15), Redstart (6). Vireo: Red-eyed (4), White-eyed (2). Others: Swainson's Thrush (1), Veery (1), Scarlet Tanager (2). We could use another nice cold front! Gail Mackiernan gail@umdd.umd.edu
