A Barred Owl hooted at Huntley Meadows at dusk today. It was somewhere across
the pond from the observation tower. Take Rt 1 south of the beltway to
Lockheed Dr west, where Lockheed goes hard right, make a left at the signed
entrance to Huntley. Walk the path to the boardwalk.

Huntley is fun at dusk this time of year. I count Common Yellowthroats and
sparrows (7 Songs today, no Swamp yet), a few Great Egrets hang around with
some Green and Great Blue Herons. A Magnolia Warbler was at the beginning of
the boardwalk and a quiet spot beyond the tower netted a Western Palm Warbler.
And of course you get to see King Rails!
