I've witnessed quite the opposite in my backyard. The pair of
goldfinches and the four youngsters they've been raising since late
August/early September suddenly abandonded my thistle feeder for parts
unknown. Maybe they tired of Niger thistle and joined the group of 300
at Wakefield Park for some locally grown delicacies.
