I decided to visit a familiar, but recently neglected, stomping ground.
Manassas Battlefield, entering at the Stone Bridge. This route takes me along
Bull Run, then turning west, and reaching the large elevated field, and then
working my way to the west edge of the field, and looping back to my car. Two
observers, my father, Mike, and I.

7:30-10:00. Temp started about 43, and got to maybe 63 or so. No noticable
wind. Sky was clear.

Overall, nothing wholly impressive. Sparrows were represented well, and in
decent numbers, but nothing overwhelming. Six woodpecker species.

The following is a complete list:

Wood Duck (3)
Mallard (2)
Sharp-shinned Hawk (1)
Rock Dove (1)
Mourning Dove (40)
Red-headed Woodpecker (1)
Red-bellied Woodpecker (4)
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker (1)
Downy (4)
Flicker (15)
Pileated (1)
E. Phoebe (2)
Blue Jay (75)
Am. Crow (20)
Chickadee (6)
Titmouse (4)
Carolina Wren (12)
House Wren (2- one singing)
Winter Wren (1)
GC Kinglet (12)
RC Kinglet (8)
E. Bluebird (6)
Robin (1000+ overhead)
Mockingbird (6)
C. Waxwing (1)
Starling (15)
Blue-headed Vireo (1)
Yellow-rump (55)
Cardinal (12)
E. Towhee (8)
Chipping Sparrow (8)
Field Sparrow (11)
Savannah (3)
Song (8)
White-throated (28)
Junco (1-color me an idiot, but somehow I missed the name change on this one)
E. Meadowlark (8- lots singing)
C. Grackle (3)
House Finch (22)
Goldfinch (18)

Anytime I can get 40 species before I go to work, I have had a good day.

Cheers,
