This morning five of us decided to try our luck at the University of Maryland farm. Numbers were way up with most species. The most exciting bird was a Harris's sparrow. We first spotted it in some cut multi-flora that is bring cleared from an old fence line. It was perched with some white-crowns and it's large size was immediately obvious. We were able to study the bird for aprox. 1 hour through our binocs and scope. Photos were also taken. CHIPPING 150 FIELD 20 SAVANNAH 200 SONG 300 SWAMP 25 WHITE-TH 50 WHITE-CROWN 8 HARRIS'S 1 - life bird for 4 of us! Unfortuately the farm is restricted access and not open to the general public. If the bird stays for any length of time arrangements might be made to take a group out. We will keep tabs. Bonnie Ott
