The resident is John Fischbach of Arnold in Anne Arundel County and although I have his phone number, I have not yet been able to reach him to talk directly, so everything I know is second-hand at this point. Here's the scoop: The Fischbachs live next door to some rural property with pond (known as Scholol's (spelling?) Pond) that was slated for development 30 years ago. However, that developer went bankrupt, and the land was left undeveloped until now. The Fischbachs took it upon themselves to clean up trash on the property and to erect bird boxes around the pond (I don't know what species, and yes, I know, they were trespassing). The Fischbachs have some vague idea that this land was supposed to be set aside as a sanctuary and/or left as open space. Anyway, now another developer has bought the property and is proceeding with plans to build houses on it. The developer has asked the Fischbachs to remove the bird boxes. Does anyone out there have any ideas as to any recourse the Fischbachs might have to prevent this development? And yes, I know, it's private land, so it is probably too late to do anything...still, the guy asked the question, so I thought if some Ospreyers are familiar with the area they might have some insights. Thanks for any thoughts you might have.
