Fran -- I know you said you were only going as far east as Salisbury, but .... Late October is an excellent time for Sedge Wren in coastal Worcester. Places to check (on the bayside) is Truitt's Landing Road, while on Assateague, the marsh on the west side of the main road, west of the state park area, is good, as is the marsh north of the paved road to the canoe launching site in the National Seashore area. They tend to like the taller needle-rush or areas of spartina with a scattering of dead bayberry. Often you hear them first. During migration they also sometimes show up in the weed broomsedge fields around the Bayside Campground. Farther south on the Island (in the ORV Zone) there area some large wet sedge meadows (where the old road use to be), we're I seen up to 10 in a day this time of year. Also Irish Grove/Rumbly Point is good for this species as well.
