Ducks at Hunting Creek, VA

Folks,

Today, 5 Nov 98, during the noon time low tide, in addition to the usual
Double-crested Cormorants, Great Blue Herons, a single Great Egret, the 4
gulls and a Kingfisher, the following was spotted on or near the Hunting
Creek, VA mudflats of the Potomac ...

Tundra Swan - 1
Mute Swan - 1
Canada Goose - 124
Mallard - 9
Black Duck - 56
No. Pintail - 64
No. Shoveler - 251
Am. Coot - 26 (200+ visible from the bridge near the Md shore)
Killdeer - 39
Forster's Tern - 56
(no shorebirds!)


Pied-billed Grebe - 42
Canada Goose - 203
Mallard - 15
No. Pintail - 218
No. Shoveler - 70
Bufflehead - 22

4 non-yellowlegs shorebirds noted on the hydrilla mats.  The hydrilla mats
have shrunk significantly from last week, area today is about 1/3 of last
week.
