The Howard county Bird club had a very well attended walk this a.m.
Waterfowl is starting to move and we had 5 Hooded mergansers,
bufflehead, ruddy, ring-necks, gadwall, wigeon, and PLENTY of geese.
Other birds of interest were RUSTY BB and lingering CATBIRD. Sparrows
were way down with low numbers of song, swamp, field, white-throat.
Most interesting was a report (from a passing non-birder) of a small
duck (aprox. 2 inches long) with a bright yellow bill, out on the lake.
We did an extensive search but couldn't relocate the bird.

"Many people won't know what to say when the ducks show up, but I will.
Maybe I'll say "Oh ducks, oh ducks, oh ducks," or just "Ducks wonderful
ducks!" I practice these sayings every day, and even though the ducks
haven't come yet, when they do, I'll know what to say."
