Winter Birds?

Just a heads up. According to the hotlines, there is a completely
unprecendented number of Franklin's Gulls in the eastern great Lakes, with
FLOCKS of over a hundred reported in the past week. There have been very
few reports in the past decade and the number of reports from Maryland has
plummeted since the late 1970s. We may be on verge of another clump of
records.
Almost no northern birds are being reported in the East, with a
dearth of finch and Snowy Owl reports to the north of us, but there has
been a very strong and early movement of Northern Shrikes, with multiple
reports from central Pennsylvania and central New Jersey already, including
a group of three in central PA.

"Everywhere I go I'm asked if the university stifles writers. My opinion is
that they don't stifle enough of them. There's many a bestseller that could
have been prevented by a good teacher." Flannery O'Connor
