The scope pack

Having received a number of enquiries as to _which_ pack I bought at
ABA, and learning from these enquiries that ABA sells more than one,
I've looked at the label. It says "OutPack" and has a fuzzy koala in
the middle of the label.......which means, of course, that it was made
in Korea. It has four good sized outer pockets with good squeeze
fasteners (and redundant velcro as well), extra attachment loops,
well-padded shoulder straps and broad padded belt, and (perhaps most
important) a firm/flexible foam pad between whatever is in it and your
back. Fully loaded, it meets airline specs for carryon. Honestly, I
can't remember how much I paid, and don't have an ABA catalog handy to
check. My bottom line is that for carrying around a Swarovski, it is
well worth the protection and personal comfort.

Hearing all the good things about the tri-pack that's been mentioned in
several postings, I'll probably invest in one of these as well, since
the full scope pack isn't really all that handy for local hiking.

good spotting,
